There is an undeniable power generated when we gather women together in a room.
The concept of bringing together professional women for the purpose of learning and sharing came to me years ago. In fact, it appeared in my thoughts as a gentle nudge when I gave myself a break from the constant chatter in my head. My desire to bring women together seemed refreshing and exciting. However, the fear of not knowing exactly what to do or create, along with the unexpected costs kept me in a holding pattern for longer than I would like to admit.
Has this happened to you? Have you resisted the urge to follow through with an idea because you were unsure of the outcome?
Amelia Earhart offered this advice all those many years ago and it is still relevant today:
“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.”― Amelia Earhart
Recently, I followed those words to “act” and hosted the first-ever Together we Seek business women’s retreat. The results are chronicled in my most recent Thrive Global article, which I invite you to read: Together We Seek.
I am sure you can think of someone that has waited a lifetime and never taken action on their dreams or heart’s desired. It is sad, as I can think of many that are so excited to share their dreams, but quickly follow it with detailed explanations as to why now is not the time.
If I had not taken the initiative to follow up on my idea and make the retreat come to life, I hesitate to think about what we would have all missed out on. The feedback was amazing – women together create a positive energy that’s infectious. Together we encouraged each other, supported dreams, helped offer advice to help those ideas come to life and made new connections that we will continue to explore in the months and years to come.
What are you waiting for? What is your dream that you are resisting? If you were to take the first step – what would that step be and where would it take you? It’s time to LEAP!
